About Us
The Kirktown Garden Centre and Restaurant is owned and run by the Gammie family and an experience and knowledgeable group of staff. The Gammie family has farmed in the Laurencekirk area since the 1920's. We then diversified into running a Garden Centre when we bought Kirktown in 2002. With no prior retail experience this has been a challenging and exciting venture for us all! Since we began in 2002, we have developed our premises greatly; the most recent addition being a new conservatory and decking area to extend our Restaurant. This included putting in Wi-Fi, projector and meeting room facilities, which is now available for private hire and functions. This past year we have also introduced a range of our own home-grown and hand-picked fresh vegetables - in 2012 we aim to broaden the variety of vegetables on offer. We also stock locally produced strawberries, from Castleton Farm and eggs from Scotts in Laurencekirk, as well as having many Scottish produce on sale in our ever-growing food shop. Where possible we also use our own home-grown vegetables in our Restaurant. We are locally famed for the quality and variety of our plants and products, and our knowledgeable and helpful staff are always keen to help with all your queries. We are now running a number of events and competitions throughout the year and aim to increase and develop this over the coming months. Our Gardening Club is growing by the week, and interaction with our customers is at an all-time high, and growing, with the development of our Website and Facebook Page, as well as the introduction of our Twitter Page. We have a sister company, Kirktown Garden Machinery, based near Laurencekirk - selling and repairing all types of garden machinery, quad bikes, snow-mobiles and McCormack tractors (Website: Kirktown Garden Machinery). At Kirktown we aim to provide high quality service, broad ranges of plants and products in a family-centred environment, all done through the farming ethos of value for money. |
