Beer tasting with Grant - Swing by between 11am-4pm

Grant will be here to offer tastings and tell you more about these great products and how they are made. With the best ingredients going into these drinks, it is well worthwhile coming along and trying for yourself to see why they are so popular.

Spey Valley Brewery

Spey Valley Brewery produces a range of distinctive beers from a stunning location in the heart of Speyside. Our unique recipes appeal to both discerning enthusiasts and to those newly discovering the wonderful world of beer made as it used to be, and should be – by people who are passionate about it, for people who care about it, with the best ingredients and something a little special in every glass.

Alechemy Brewing

'If you are a lover of hand-crafted real ales, then you should check out Alechemy Brewing. Our Edinburgh brewery is a small family run business that aims to provide a true alternative to the proliferation of mass produced and marketed beers. As an independent brewer, we are free to create a range of occasional speciality beers that compliment our core range of bottled and cask ales. We produce beers of all styles, so there is bound to be something in our range to please even the most experienced connoisseur. '

Keith Brewery Ltd.

'Sometime after the big bang and before tea, two intrepid brewers suddenly noticed they were tired of watery beer and wet lager. They were on a camping trip in Scotland at the time, so this country became home to an exciting new venture. Within three months they’d set up in a draughty farm building using old dairy tanks for brewing. Now four years on, we have a custom built brewery in Speyside, have 12 people involved, and export our beer around the world.'

Meet Afara for Kintyre Gin Tastings 12-4pm

Meet Afara who will help you discover the awesome Kintyre Gin!

She will be offering samples to try as well as answering all your gin questions.

Kintyre Gin is sustainably produced using their very own renewable energy, powered from the small hydro-electric scheme at Torrisdale Castle Estate. The water is sourced from the hill from which they take the name. ‘Beinn an Tuirc’ translates from gaelic as ‘The Hill of the Wild Boar’ and is the highest point in Kintyre, located above the distillery building.

KINTYRE GIN

A beautifully blended spirit using carefully selected botanicals which reflect our unique coastal, pasture and woodland position on the east coast of the Kintyre peninsula.
Tasting notes: delicate floral notes and citrus body, with a juniper and spice finish.

Suggested serve: We believe our gin is equally at home being served neat on the rocks or with a premium tonic. Each and every palate is different, however we would suggest using Fever-Tree Mediterranean with a sprig of basil, or perhaps a naturally light tonic with some fresh mint.

43% Vol 70cl

KINTYRE PINK GIN

Kintyre Pink Gin is uniquely distilled with Scottish raspberries and oats, giving it a delicate fruity flavour with a creamy finish, redolent of that most Scottish of desserts, Cranachan.
Suggested serve: Finished with a pure raspberry concentrate, this sophisticated blush-coloured spirit is delicious with a premium tonic or topped up with prosecco for a truly summery treat.

Black Thistle Gin Tasting with Christina 12-4pm

Meet Christina to tell you more about the spirit of Black Thistle and try their uber cool products.

This event is free and offers you the chance to learn more and try these products so that you can go away and enlighten friends and family with your extra knowledge!

Here is a little about this wonderful new local Scottish supplier and their products:

'Black Thistle is based in Brechin, in the heart of Angus, a region renowned for producing the finest fruit, vegetables and of course, botanicals. With this abundance of top-quality local produce, we don’t compromise on the key ingredients for our range of smooth yet sassy gin and vodka. We select a finely balanced blend of local and more exotic botanicals for each of our spirits.'

BLACK THISTLE GIN
A carefully curated blend of key botanicals, infused with locally grown wild thistle, and fresh, filtered Scottish water combine to give our gin its unique characteristics.

We fuse the cornerstones of traditional gin – clean, green juniper and warm, aromatic coriander – with our own hand-picked blend of fragrant orris root, caraway seeds, wormwood and the wild thistle which grows in abundance around our distillery.

The result is a smooth, crisp and deceptively simple gin. A gin which positively sings when served with a quality tonic, lots of ice and a twist of citrus.

70CL

MIST VODKA
Our vodka is characterised by a creamy, smooth flavour married to a pure, clean finish.

We distill the vodka not once, but twice through a 12-plate column. The result? A spirit with maximum purity and quality.

We use the same fresh, Scottish water, and wild thistle that goes into producing our distinctive gin.

Shake well before pouring to unlock the mist within.

Cove Honey Bees - Meet Brian's Bees & Tasting 11AM-4PM

Brian of Cove Honey Bees will be here with his bees and products for you to learn more about the wonderful busy bees and the products that their honey helps to produce.

Bring the kids to see and learn more about these amazing flying insects that do so much for the world we live in. They can take away some produce that the bees helped create too! An experience to tell all their friends about!

Here is a little background on Cove Honey Bees:

'After researching the Honey Bee since 2012, Cove Honey Bees was set up in Spring 2014 with just one colony of bees.

In 2015, we rapidly expanded from one initial hive bought in 2014 to having three apiary sites around the Aberdeen and Shire area giving us a wide range of different honey over the season. We now have just under 50 hives - 98% of them bred by ourselves. We take pride in this. We don’t buy in bees and we buy local stock.

2017 saw the creation of the honey banana bread which has been extremely popular and is now one of our most popular products along with our honey. You can buy them online on our website along with free range eggs and Castleton’s jam range.'

Why are bees so important?

Globally there are more honey bees than other types of bee and pollinating insects, so it is the world’s most important pollinator of food crops. It is estimated that one third of the food that we consume each day relies on pollination mainly by bees, but also by other insects, birds and bats.

Honey bees can also pollinate clover and alfalfa, which are fed to cattle, so there are implications for the meat and dairy industry too. And that is not to mention the huge range of manufactured food products made from all these ingredients.

Come and see Brian and the bees, ask plenty of questions and try his super tasty products! There is no cost to meeting these super clever busy bees. We look forward to seeing you.

Dundee Gin Tastings - Free Gin Tasting

Dundee Gin Tasting at 12PM & 2PM - Free Tastings

Making more than just a comeback, gin has become the trendy tipple. There really has been such a resurgence within the gin market and it’s no longer the mainstay at the back of yer grannie’s booze cupboard, but at the forefront of all the top bars and restaurants across the country! Come and try the incredibly smooth Dundee Gin 46% Dry Gin and onto their other gin liqueurs – take your taste buds on a pleasant trip tasting these fantastic gins.

'Our Gin. Your Gin. A'body's Gin'

'Founder Peter Menzies, having run his own venue at The Vine and mobile bars in and around Dundee, stocked 140 different gins. After sampling a particularly good rhubarb and ginger gin, he realised how popular they were. Thereafter Peter got a team together, and, having been heavily involved with Dundee Cake, it was obvious that his ingredient had to be marmalade. Not just any marmalade, but Dundee’s very own recipe.

After some help from the experts, the signature product was born, and the rest is definitely not history.'
